The video link next to each concept will take you to the start of the part of the video where that specific concept is discussed. Click the video embedded below to watch the entire session.

Concepts discussed on February 2, 2018

Algebra

  1. Definition of a linear equation. How to solve a linear equation in 2 variables? What does a linear equation represent in an x-y plane? What does the solution to a system of linear equations in 2 variables represent?

  2. How to find the roots of a quadratic equation? How to factorize a quadratic equation? Step by step approach to split the middle term of a quadratic equation with adequate practice.

  3. How to find the roots of a quadratic equation that cannot be factorized? The formula to find the roots in such cases.

Percents, Ratio, Average and Median

  1. What is percentage? Why use percentage? Standard framework of questions in percentages. How to convert from a fraction to a percentage? How to write a percentage as its equivalent fraction. Common fractional equivalents of percents.

  2. Concept of direct variation, linked but not in direct proportion and inverse variation or inverse proportion.

  3. How to find the average, sum and number of terms if the other two parameters are provided? Definition of median and how to compute the median for a set of numbers.

Geometry & Coordinate Geometry

  1. Getting clarity about these terms: line, ray, line segment. Definition of angles, supplementary and complementary angles. Vertically opposite angles, angles formed when a transversal cuts two parallel lines.

  2. Recapping and getting clarity: Circle, chords, arc, sector, and segment. Tangents from an external point to a circle.

  3. Representing a point in x-y plane. Find the length of the line segment joining two points AB. Finding the slope of a line segment if the coordinates of two points on the segment is known. Identifying the 4 quadrants in x-y plan.
